Meet The Team
Joseph W. Sharlow, MD, FACS
Medical Spa Director / General Surgeon
Genesis Med Spa (formerly known as Toni’s Medical Aesthetics) was established by Dr. Sharlow in 2003 and changed to its current name in 2014. His vision was to provide a medical spa where women and men could enhance their natural beauty without surgery. He wanted to bring the latest technology, procedures and products in the rapidly developing field of medical aesthetics to people all across Southeastern Missouri.
As director, Dr. Sharlow specializes in all of the services offered at Genesis Med Spa, though he is particularly known for his work with injectables and Smartlipo. He received his advanced training in Smartlipo from two of the pioneers in this revolutionary process, Dr. Bruce Katz, Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, and Dr. Michael Bruck in 2007. Since that time, Dr. Sharlow has performed over 2,800 Smartlipo procedures.
Dr. Sharlow is board-certified by the American College of Surgeons and runs a general surgery practice at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital, a company we are now affiliated with as well. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), elected in 1993 by a committee of his peers and colleagues. Dr. Sharlow maintains active membership status in the American Medical Association, American Society of Breast Surgeons, American Hernia Society, Missouri State Medical Association, American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons, and the Southwestern Surgical Congress. Dr. Sharlow is also a member of the Botox® Cosmetic Physicians’ Network.

Patrica Wehner, BSN
Patty has been in the medical field since 1983 after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Southeast Missouri State University. She has primarily worked at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital, caring for and treating people in the town where she was raised. Patty's experience in Oncology, ER, OB, ICU and Surgery has made her the successful and passionate nurse that she is today. After being asked to cover one shift in Dr. Sharlow's general surgery practice, Patty found her new home. Dr. Sharlow and Patty have worked together, not only in his general surgery practice, but at Genesis as well. Patty was one of the first staff members to be added to the Genesis team and has been with the practice since 2003, when the first location opened.
