Joseph W. Sharlow, MD, FACS is a general surgeon who has been practicing in the Ste. Genevieve area for over 30 years. Dr. Sharlow is board-certified by the American College of Surgeons. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), elected in 1993 by a committee of his peers and colleagues. Dr. Sharlow maintains active membership status in the American Medical Association, American Society of Breast Surgeons, American Hernia Society, Missouri State Medical Association, American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons, and the Southwestern Surgical Congress. Dr. Sharlow is also a member of the Botox® Cosmetic Physicians’ Network.
Genesis Med Spa is formerly known as Toni’s Medical Aesthetics which was established by Dr. Sharlow in 2005. His vision was to provide a medical spa where women and men could enhance their natural beauty without surgery. He wanted to bring to the southeast area the latest technology, procedures and products in the rapidly developing field of medical aesthetics. With a name change in 2014, Toni’s is now operating as Genesis Med Spa.
Dr. Sharlow received his advanced training in Smartlipo from two of the pioneers in this revolutionary process, Dr. Bruce Katz, Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, and Dr. Michael Bruck in 2007. Smartlipo is an innovation from Cynosure, a worldwide leader in the surgical, medical and aesthetic pulsed-light and laser marketplace. When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Sharlow enjoys spending his free time playing the piano at his home in Ste. Genevieve. Originally from Louisiana, he brings a warm Southern charm wherever he goes. He loves spending time with his wonderful wife, Veronica, who is often seen volunteering around the community—you’ve probably run into her around town! Dr. Sharlow is also a proud grandfather to six grandkids and enjoys visiting his sons in Kansas and Missouri whenever he gets the chance.
“There’s satisfaction in making people well, but there is also satisfaction in making people feel good about themselves. Walking into Genesis is like walking into a candy store, people see things we can do that will erase the damage that gravity has done over time and they are smiling!” ~Dr. Sharlow
