Our team
Joseph W. Sharlow, MD, FACS: Medical Spa Director / General Surgeon
Genesis Med Spa (formerly known as Toni’s Medical Aesthetics) was established by Dr. Sharlow in 2003 and changed to its current name in 2014. His vision was to provide a medical spa where women and men could enhance their natural beauty without surgery. He wanted to bring the latest technology, procedures and products in the rapidly developing field of medical aesthetics to people all across Southeastern Missouri.
As director, Dr. Sharlow specializes in all of the services offered at Genesis Med Spa, though he is particularly known for his work with injectables and Smartlipo. He received his advanced training in Smartlipo from two of the pioneers in this revolutionary process, Dr. Bruce Katz, Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, and Dr. Michael Bruck in 2007. Since that time, Dr. Sharlow has performed over 2,800 Smartlipo procedures.
Dr. Sharlow is board-certified by the American College of Surgeons and runs a general surgery practice at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital, a company we are now affiliated with as well. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), elected in 1993 by a committee of his peers and colleagues. Dr. Sharlow maintains active membership status in the American Medical Association, American Society of Breast Surgeons, American Hernia Society, Missouri State Medical Association, American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons, and the Southwestern Surgical Congress. Dr. Sharlow is also a member of the Botox® Cosmetic Physicians’ Network.
Patty Wehner, BSN
Patty has been in the medical field since 1983 after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Southeast Missouri State University. She has primarily worked at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital, caring for and treating people in the town where she was raised. Patty's experience in Oncology, ER, OB, ICU and Surgery has made her the successful and passionate nurse that she is today. After being asked to cover one shift in Dr. Sharlow's general surgery practice, Patty found her new home. Dr. Sharlow and Patty have worked together, not only in his general surgery practice, but at Genesis as well. Patty was one of the first staff members to be added to the Genesis team and has been with the practice since 2003, when the first location opened.
Patty is certified and trained in a variety of procedures offered at Genesis. She is also an Ulthera technician and a certified laser technician. Patty offers Ultherapy treatments, laser hair removal, sublative rejuvenation, skin rejuvenation and vascular treatments. She is available on Wednesdays from 2-6 pm or Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Patty's favorite service at Genesis is SculpSure. She loves this new non-invasive body contouring treatment because it permanently removes fat in a 25-minute treatment with no downtime! With Patty's busy schedule this fits into her lifestyle rather well.

Mary Crecelius, MSN, WHNP, APNG
Mary is the newest addition to our team! She comes to us with extensive knowledge in women's health and we are honored to have her. Mary completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1982. After several years of experience in the ER department, Mary found her love for women's care after transferring to a managerial role in the OB department. She received her master's degree and her Women's Health Nurse Practitioner license in 1997. Mary joined the Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital family in 2011 and continues to have a thriving Women's Wellness practice located in the Bloomsdale Medical Centre.
In 2013, Mary became a Board-Certified Advanced Practice Nurse in Genetics, helping women who are at risk for or affected by a disease with a genetic component. Mary considers herself privileged to care for women in their diverse experiences in life. While still actively practicing women's health in her own practice, Mary has also found a new passion for aesthetics. She joined Genesis in 2014 and has actively been training under Dr. Sharlow.
Mary is certified and trained in a variety of procedures offered at Genesis. She is also an Ulthera technician and a certified laser technician. Mary offers Ultherapy treatments, laser hair removal, sublative rejuvenation, skin rejuvenation, vascular treatments and Botox treatments. She is available on Thursday mornings from 9-12 pm by appointment only.
